This is the Second Installment of Birthday Month Menu Posting. This post is dedicated to my lovely Grandmother, my Gramsbear, my Grandma Judy! She had knee replacement surgery almost a year ago, and she’s been a champ with physical therapy, but there’s still a lot of inflamation and sometimes pain around her knee. So for her birthday this year we wanted to focus on anti-inflammatory and healing foods but with a celebratory flair! Celebratory flair means cake in my book. And the cake of choice was Angel Food. I did not prepare this from scratch. My Pal Betty (Betty Crocker that is) helped out immensely with the cake.

- Vegetarian Antipasti with Lacto-Fermented Giardiniera, Olives, Marinated Artichokes
- Romaine Salad with Blueberries, Cucumbers, Celery, Pine Nuts and Feta
- Kale and Quinoa Salad (recipe from Recipe Tin Eats)
- Grilled Chicken
- Broiled Salmon
- Lime and Mint Refresher
- Angel Food Cake with Mixed Berry Compote and Whipped Cream
I had the menu planned and fixed in my mind. And because of that I had the presence of mind to add all the things to the massive month long grocery list and was feeling quite proud of my party planning skills. Aaaand then suddenly the afternoon soiree turned into a two day house party! Of course that meant breakfast as well as lunch so a last minute clean-the-fridge frittata was in order. Thankfully I was able to get the majority of the cooking done in advance so I could hang out with the party-goers for the majority of the time.
Great times were had by all. And we had a lovely lunch with a lovely lady! Happy Birthday Gramsbear!
